Project Overview
"The Daily Pulse" is a user-friendly and intuitive application designed to assess and improve company culture and team performance. The Daily Pulse application streamlines the process of collecting this information by sending daily reminders to employees to submit their responses. The collected data is then aggregated and presented in a comprehensive dashboard, providing real-time analytics and visualizations for managers and decision-makers.
Through the analysis of this data, companies can identify trends, patterns, and correlations, allowing them to make data-driven decisions to improve company culture and team performance. For example, if the application consistently reveals low employee morale or a high number of remote work requests, organizations can proactively address these concerns by implementing initiatives to boost morale or revisiting their remote work policies.
Overall, The Daily Pulse acts as a vital tool in assessing and improving company culture and team performance, enabling organizations to make informed decisions and create a positive work environment that promotes employee well-being and productivity.

The Challenge
Research and Discovery Phase
User Research: Conducted surveys, interviews, card sorting, competitive analysis, A/B testing, and user personas to understand user needs, behaviors, and concerns related to a positive work environment that promotes employee well-being and productivity.
Competitive Analysis
Competitive analysis played a crucial role in my user research by providing valuable insights into the broader market landscape and the activities of competitors. By studying competitors' products, services, and strategies, I was able to gain a comprehensive understanding of existing user expectations, industry trends, and potential gaps or opportunities. This analysis helped my team identify competitive advantages, refine product positioning, and develop unique value propositions that resonate with the target audience. Additionally, studying competitors' user experiences revealed areas for improvement and innovation, enabling a user-centric design and enhance overall user satisfaction.
User Survey
User surveys were an essential tool for providing valuable insights directly from the users themselves. The surveys allowed our team to gather large amounts of data efficiently, helping us understand user preferences, needs, and pain points. These insights served as a foundation for making informed design decisions, improving the user experience, and aligning products or services with user expectations.
Quotes from User Interviews
Concerned about mental well-being
“Safe and healthy working environments are not only a fundamental right but are also more likely to minimize tension and conflicts at work and improve staff retention, work performance, and productivity” Meredith Bridges
A positive work culture is a top priority
“Good cultural fit creates employees who contribute more, stay longer with the company, and build better relationships with coworkers.” Jason Reyes
Employee sentiment
“Feedback from employee surveys gives you data you need to solve problems you may not even be aware of while maintaining a healthy and happy work environment.” Emma Lin
User Persona
A user persona was beneficial to my research because it provided a clear and detailed representation of a target user. This helped guide the design and development process, ensuring that the end product or service aligns with the users' preferences and expectations. The user personas also enabled my team to empathize with the target audience, leading to more user-centered and effective solutions for the Daily Pulse.
Card Sorting
Card sorting was valuable research for the Daily Pulse because it allowed us to gain insights into how users mentally organize and categorize the app's features and content. By involving users in the sorting process, it also helped uncover patterns and preferences in how users expect to interact with the app, leading to better design decisions and enhanced user satisfaction.
Insights
Gathering insights during my user research sessions helped me understand users' needs, preferences, and pain points, ensuring that the Daily Pulse is tailored to their specific requirements. Additionally, user research insights enabled the identification of potential usability issues and the implementation of necessary improvements, leading to a more effective and successful well-being application.
Iterations
In the early UI iterations of the Daily Pulse design, the focus was on creating a clean and intuitive interface that prioritized ease of use. The designs incorporated minimalistic aesthetics, clear navigation, and personalized recommendations to enhance user engagement and overall well-being.
Customer Feedback
Gathering customer feedback was crucial for this part of the design process in the Daily Pulse. By conducting surveys, interviews, and usability tests with the feedback this allowed my team to identify user pain points, preferences, and needs, ultimately informing iterative design improvements that prioritize a seamless and enjoyable user experience.
A/B Testing
A/B testing with three different versions allowed for the evaluation of multiple design variations simultaneously, providing valuable insights into user preferences and behavior. By presenting different versions to customers and measuring their responses, the study was able to identify which design elements and features resonated most effectively with the target audience, enabling data-driven decision-making.
In the Daily Pulse we discovered, well-being, availability, and sentiment are crucial for productivity. When individuals feel emotionally and physically well, have easy access to necessary resources they strive to maintain a positive outlook. Overall they are more likely to engage in tasks enhancing their productivity levels.
